About NEXUS
Stewardship, from the backyard to the backcountry.
Our aim is to enable better stewardship of our native ecosystems — not only by managing natural areas, but by addressing the use and planting of invasive species within urban and residential landscapes.
The founder
Led from the field
NEXUS is founded and led by Noah Bowen, a conservation biologist whose career has centered on one problem: what happens to native ecosystems when nonnative species take hold — and what it takes to reverse it.
That work spans three of the world’s most invasion-pressured landscapes — the Galápagos Islands, the Hawaiian Islands, and Florida — across ten years of field seasons, plus four years of invasive species research with the University of Florida.
The throughline of that decade is simple: the fight against invasive species isn’t won in remote preserves alone. It’s won in the yards, medians, and neighborhoods where most infestations start. That’s why NEXUS mows lawns and maps preserves with the same crew — and why we discount the work that removes invasives at their source.
